And I thought I had seen a sock picture a few months ago where the model was somewhat, um, *hirsute* and I thought “wait, is that a GUY modeling those socks?” but I kept my thought to myself.

    Hooray! Congratulations!

A lovely quote for the two of you:

“I mean, that unto yours my heart is knit

So that but one heart we can make of it”

    -Shakespeare, Midsummer Night’s Deam

  68. Marie

Well who knew?! I love that you keep your blog ever so chock full of great info and pics and wonderfully devoid of too much (personal) info (the boyfriends, the cats, the kids, blah, blah, blah). However, this bombshell is SO GREAT!!!!!!!! thanks for sharing and I wish you a wonderful lifetime of FUN!! (I am 19 years married and still going strong). One more thing: I guess he doesn’t mind the knitting….

  69. SusanSW

Well I’ll be!!!–guess you can keep on surprising us!! Congratulations to you both–have a great honeymoon!

Here’s to a long lifetime of love and happiness.

  70. Natalie

Wow!!! Congratulations. Yes, weddings do kick ass, and especially the ones that are your own… I should say, the One that is your own.

  71. Christine

I am just CRACKING UP this morning! I was doing my daily wedding photographers blog surfing, and I was checking out http://www.gulnarablog.com/ – I thought to myself, “WOW! That bride looks SO much like Grumperina! I should send her this link!” … then I came to the post with your engagement photos, saw Gulnara’s comment about you being from Boston, and now I am still laughing!

I love it when my photography world and my knitting world collide like that! And I’m amused that I almost emailed you the link because the bride in the photos (you) looked like you!

Best wishes! Hope you have a FABULOUS honeymoon!

  72. karen

Oh! Thank you for sharing this with us! Wow! I wish you a lifetime of happiness and joy together. What a lovely surprise on your blog.

  73. Lynn

great day for a wedding i have been married 27 years what a day if you are half as happy as we are you will have a wonderful life

  74. Dusa

515+ comments? Good thing you didn’t send out invitations! Seriously, congratulations! And instead of socks for Grandma, maybe they should be a little remembrance of your honeymoon? Just a thought!

  75. suec

congratulations and aren’t you the clever one. I think the British word for this is “gobsmacked”. Will there, I wonder, be souvenir yarn….

  76. Juti

That takes some getting used to (in a good way)… saying “my husband.”

Getting married was the best thing I ever did for myself. I hope the same is true for you and Mr. Sweetness.

  77. Magalie

Woot-woot! Oh my gah…as a reader I had no idea you were engaged! You really kept it on the down low. So happy for you though, CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been admiring your Odessa Hat for quite some time now. I myself am not a hat person, but I have a VERY young frined who is getting ready to start chemo, she is 33 and has 2 kids ages 7 and 5. I was thinking of knitting her a couple Odessa’s as chemo caps. Only thing is, is I don’t have enough yarn experiances to figure out what would be soft enough for a bald or balding head, and do you know if the beads would irratate. I want something fresh and young, and pretty, but also soemthing she will grab all the time because it is comfy cozy!! Any suggestions would be helpful.

  81. Maribeth

Mr.Grumperina has excellent taste: after all, he’s chosen a mate respected (dare I say revered?) by so many of us who admire your flair, wit and talent. A lovely photo and marvelous news. Much happiness in the many years ahead. May your union never unravel!
