This one will be fun!

I went to Beadworks today, and those folks sure have a lot of beads! So many, in fact, that I had difficulty choosing!

The fun part is that I get to show you the beads, and, if you’re so inclined, you can tell me which ones you think look best against this Rowan 4 ply Soft; I appreciate your input!

The first photo was taken outside, in “direct” sunlight (as direct as muggy summer days get), and the second was taken indoors in indirect sunlight. I marked each bead with a number for easy identification, and put the numbers off to the side so that they don’t obscure anything.

Do I have an opinion? Of course I do! I like the Honda-colored beads best. Which ones are the Honda-colored beads? Now that would be no fun!

P.S. I’m also very close to finishing the first sock from my grandma’s Best Foot Forward pair.

P.P.S. I’ll show the swatch and beads in person to those of you who I’ll see this weekend.

Thank you for photographing the beads indoors and out so we could make an informed decision. πŸ™‚

I like door number three best. It’s glam, but not Vegas showgirl flashy. The pearly surface is a nice contrast to the fabric. #10 is also nice, and #4 is great for a more dramatic statement.

I like 4, 10 and 3 in that order. I don’t care for the white ones at all. The color of 9 doesn’t go with the yarn color IMHO and the 5 beads are so subtle they might disappear.

#4 is the best, unless you want the beads to blend in a bit more, in which case #s 10 or 3 would be good. I love matching beads with yarn – it’s so much fun to coombine hobbies!

I like #3 the best. I think they will give a little sparkle without overwhelming the sophisticated shape of the top.

Well the sweater is the colour of my Honda, but 3 or 5 are the colour of the Honda I want. Does that help?

    Didn’t think so.

Stay away from the white and the black.

#3 is the best. #4 and #10 are my next choices. #3 looks great indoors and out, isn’t too flashy, isn’t too much of a contrast. Perfecto.

In order, 10,4,3. My monitor shows very little difference between 10 and 4, and I’m a fan of hematite, a lovely stone, which these two seem to resemble. I think they are a nice complement to the gray. 3 is perhaps a bit too subtle. The solid white and the blue are non-starters, and the others just don’t appeal.

I like 3 or 10. It would have been 5 or 10 but 5 blends in too much outside. I guess that really narrows it down to 10.

FYI, next time you are looking for little seed beads, (rather than bigger funkier beads), check out Crystal Blue Beading Co in Watertown. It’s the local mecca for little beads.

3 or 10 for me, too. They add sparkle without jumping out at you. In fact, I just looked again, and I like 3 WAAY better than 10 or 4, which are pretty similar to one another.

So are you going to abide by the majority or go your own Grumperina way? OK, I know you’ll go your own way!

i’m not a blogger, but i am an opinionated, yet indecisive knitter. i like 3 (the most), 5, and 7.

    1 – for a soft, demure look

9 – for a more casual “I can wear with jeans” look

    10 – for a zippier look

    Does that help?

    #3 the best, then #10

I think beading looks best if the beads are close to the color of the yarn but are shiny enough to pop.

It depends on the look your going for. If you want the beads to be noticable I would say any of the whitish colored beads or #4.

If you want something more subtle i would say #3 or 5. They add a little something, but they blend in.

If it were me, I would probably go with #3 or 10.

I like number 5. I also like your blog. I think it’s awesome that you are not afraid of math like most knitters are. I write my patterns using a compass and calculator too. People respond to seeing me do this by saying that they hate math. Us math fans need to stick together.

LOL everyone has picked one or 2 beads… I’ve picked 5 LOL. I love 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8… and if I really really really have to pick only 1 it would be… 5 or 7. Oh, no, 1 I said. I think I’d go with number 5. I like way it blends with the yarn. It won’t be “lost” because it’ll sparkle and add interest that way.

I say bead number 3, it really shows off the color of the yarn. I like how well it accents it. I think the number 10 is too dark. Bead 3 has enough umph to really look sharp!
